My personal care for summer: Cucumber, raspberries and cranberry lip balm
Hey girls,
Summer is in its full swing so you can feel this almost unbearable scorching heat. It’s time for you to look for effective methods to feel freshened up and sense this pleasant cool as well as gentle and nourishing regeneration. Personally, I’m fed up with these reach creams with UV filters therefore I don’t feel like adding anything else to this “hot” skin care. Still, you must apply “something” to skin, right? Once my lips get chapped due to the sun, I decided to look for some natural and non-overburdening solutions to soothe my body on these hot days. Today, I’m going to share with you my simple ideas for summer skincare. The recipes I’m going to give you are so cool and uncomplicated that you can prepare the handmade products even if you are on your summer excursion to deliver instant fresh feeling. Enjoy!
Green skin care: Cucumber as a way to hydrate your skin and reduce pigmentation marks
It can be applied to face and the entire body. If you aren’t satisfied with the the discolorations that appeared on your knees and elbows, the you can get rid of them by wiping them with cucumber juice twice a day. Actually, you can dampen a tissue in cucumber juice and put it on the face – this is the fastest face sheet mask that freshens your skin up, closes skin pores and delivers a portion of hydration to your face in a single step.
In order to improve the ‘quality’ of skin, you can also make use of the following mask: combine cucumber juice with whipped egg whites. Apply it to your face and let it sit for 15 minutes. Rinse using lukewarm water. Last but not least, if you want to firm mature skin up, you can go for cucumber peel mask (you can chop them).
Red skin care: Raspberry face toner to combat discolorations
Of course, it does more than just reduce pigmentation marks. It also deals with various skin imperfections and helps restore shine and nourishment to skin. When it comes to this handmade product, it may be a little bit troublesome to prepare it on your holiday trip because raspberry face toner must mature in a dark and cool place for about two weeks. Still, trust me, it’s worth waiting these 14 days to enjoy all the benefits that raspberry face toner offers. Here’s how to prepare it.
Combine the following ingredients:
- 4 spoons alcohol
- 1/4 cup pre-boiled water
- 4 spoons herbs: chamomile, sage, lavender
- a few drops essential oil
Pour the blend to a glass jar, close it tightly and keep in a dark place for 14 days.
Now, you can strain the toner and combine it with 5 spoons of fresh raspberry juice. The last step consists in pouring the raspberry face toner to a dark glass bottle. Use it twice a day by applying it to the areas where skin features pigmentation marks. I use it as a regular face toner to wash my entire face once a day. This handmade face toner knows how to even out skin tone.
Amber skin care: Cranberry lip balm
Cranberry lip balm is my top natural skin care tool that also handles rejuvenation. This balm leaves my lips smooth and intensifies the color. Making it isn’t troublesome at all. You just need literally 5 minutes to make it.
Combine the following ingredients:
- approx. 10 cranberries
- 1 spoon almond oil
- 1 teaspoon honey
- 1 teaspoon Vaseline
Mix the ingredients and put them in a small pot. Keep warming up the ingredients until the mixture boils. Take the pot off, mash the fruits and let it cool down. Of course, you can put the lip balm to a pretty container and carry it in your handbag. You can apply it to the lips as often as you want to. This handmade cranberry lip balm offers you high sun protection and at the same time beautifies the lips. Correct me if I’m wrong but the last thing that you feel like doing on a hot day is covering your lips with a lipstick. Luckily, you don’t have to do it if you have a handmade cranberry lip balm – it offers you an alternative to all the heavy color cosmetics that enhance lips.
Peel-off charcoal face mask
Finally, a real treasure for all the supporters of deep skin cleansing. I think that most of you pack the medicinal charcoal (activated charcoal) into the bag, just in case. Even if you don’t, then no worries since it’s widely-available. Once you crush it (2-3 pills), combine the black powder with 2 spoons of gelatin. Add a dash of warm water (try to obtain thick mass). And this is how you create a peel-off charcoal face mask. Apply it to the face (of course, wait until it’s not hot). Leave the black peel-off mask on the face until it cakes – in most cases it takes approximately 20 minutes. Then, you can try removing it making sure that the mask picks up all the impurities that clogged your skin pores. The last piece of advice: before applying peel-off charcoal face mask, it’s better to do facial steaming. Enjoy! 🙂
