Simple method for naturally dark eyebrows – henna brows
Henna is a natural dye obtained from the plant Lawsonia inermis. This plant is especially common in the tropics in South America, India, Australia and Africa. Its extraordinary qualities are very well known to the inhabitants of the Far and Middle East. How to properly tint your eyebrows with henna?
What is henna?
Cosmetic Henna is a natural dye used mainly to darken eyebrows and eyelashes. It is available in the form of powder or paste, which is then mixed with a special activator. After a few minutes, henna is ready for use. The effects last incomparably longer than after a simple pencil or brow powder.
1. Eyebrow henna – preparation
You will need:
- henna (dye),
- special container,
- henna stick,
- cotton pads,
- petroleum jelly,
- comb with tightly-spaced bristles,
- cotton bud,
- rubber gloves.
2. Eyebrow henna – first steps
First you need to prepare the henna cream. Make sure you follow the manufacturer’s instructions details on the packaging of the cosmetic. Start with mixing the henna powder with the activator in the special container. Use the stick to get a smooth consistency. Then wait about 15 minutes so that the henna activates. At this time, the container can be covered with foil to prevent the formation of air bubbles.
In the meantime you can prepare your eyebrows. First thoroughly comb and then apply the petroleum jelly to the area around your eyebrows. Thanks to this, you will protect your skin from tinting. Put on rubber gloves to protect your hands.
3. Eyebrow henna – how to do it?
The henna should be applied from the inner end of the eyebrow. Use just the amount to cover every hair with a thick layer. If you step behind the eyebrow line, wipe the henna with the cotton bud. Leave the paste long enough to obtain the desired look; if you want a natural effect, wait about 5 minutes, and if you need to highlight your eyebrows, keep it 10-15 minutes. In order to have two eyebrows of the same colour, wash them right at the same time.
Wash your eyebrows with a cotton pad soaked in water. If the effect is too intense, apply a thick layer of cleansing milk and remove it after 20 minutes. This way you will slightly lighten your eyebrows.
Eyebrow henna – what to avoid?
It’s not advisable to apply henna just after plucking your eyebrows. Why? When a hair is removed, a small hole is left in the skin. If henna gets there, it might irritate the skin and cause a difficult to remove skin colour change.
We can choose between black, graphite and brown eyebrow henna. If we choose brown, it’s worth adding a bit of black to it; this will prevent red reflections.
In general, this is a relatively simple treatment that can be done at home.
